Sexism and Ads

The only thing keeping me interested in the film was the fact that most of those ads were incredibly entertaining. I can't believe some of the advertisements! They have absolutely nothing to do with what is being advertised. But, on the plus side, they were amazingly creative. I have to give some credit to the advertizing companies. The ads work don't they? It's hard to criticize the agencies because of how effective they are.
I also understand how degrading they are to women. She makes a lot of good points during her lecture that are hard to ignore. I agree that women are being advertised as a sex objects and that companies should do a better job varying the messages sent through advertising, but it's hard to ignore sex because of the fact that sex really does sell.

  2. I completely agree Karali!!!!! Sex is the only thing that sells. I think that they make the models UBER sexy because then the consumer thinks if they buy that product they will be sexy. I think it also puts pressure on women because it forces us as a society to think that they have to be perfect and sexy all the time.

  3. In a funny way I thought the ads were pretty funny too. All of them caught my attention and I still remember them which is what they were supposed to do in the first place.
